Sad news when I woke up this morning: Al Waxman died at 65. He had a heart condition.

Some of you know him as the police chief on Cagney and Lacey years ago, or for frequent specials as host on TV.

For myself and many other Canadians though, we knew him as King of Kensington, main character on a Canadian sitcom in the late 1970s - early 1980s. King was based in the Kensington suburb of Toronto, a city that many of us ridicule, yet Kensington has a charm of its own.

Personally, it made me pause; my own dad just had heart surgery last November, and he's only 3 years younger than Waxman was.

Goodbye to an old friend.
